Annual Guild Retreat, September 19-21, 2017
We were small but mighty this year....only 14 quilters were able to enjoy Country Lakes Christian Retreat Center. But what a good time we had. The weather was perfect -- plenty of sunshine and hot. Our Continental breakfasts and box lunches were more than adequate and filling. Pizza was delivered the first night, then we split up and went out for dinner the second night. If the buffet meals we have come to love was missed, we had the Snack Table to rely on!!
Wednesday morning, Linda provided a tutorial for those interested quilters. The project is very versatile. It can be made large or small, with a variety of nine patches. You could go controlled or totally scrappy; make a quilt, table runner, or table topper. Only limited by your imagination and amount of stash.

The Community Design Wall was furnished by Linda. What a good idea as it grew with our completed blocks. There was a lot of talent in this room, and it was fun to see each new block as it was added to the Wall.
The winner of the Retreat 1st Prize was Frankie R. Her gift was a handmade seam ripper on a chain crafted by a local Shelbyville artisan (she's wearing it around her neck). Diane R. won the 2nd Prize, a handmade quilting apron crafted by Linda.
Our Retreat Gift was "Quilt Stuff in a Bottle"! Very, very clever, Linda. We had a lot of fun figuring out how she got it all in there -- and trying to get it out. There were quilt motif band-aids, a stiletto, an emery board to use to mark half-square triangles, a mole strip to mark quarter inch seam allowance, binding clips (both large and small), Kleenex, and bobbin thread minders. Thank you for all the very useful tools.
And Always Show and Tell
THAT'S ALL FOLKS ! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR !!
