HUG QUILTS
Our Guild selected Hosparus as our Community Project. We felt by providing Hug Quilts to this organization, we would be providing comfort and caring in some small way to those under Hosparus care.
We strive to donate twelve quilts a month. The quilts are a minimum of lap size and made with care by our members from donated fabric. The Guild provides the batting, and several members donate the long-arm quilting for those requiring the service. Our members create wonderful pieces of comfort each month from their fabric stash or from donated fabric. Our "Hug Quilt Show and Tell" immediately follows each business meeting.
Hug quilt hints: Recommended finished size is approximately 36"by 48", but may be a little smaller or larger based on the pattern used. After measuring your quilt top, allow 4 inches larger than the top on all sides for the backing. This additional amount gives the long-arm quilter enough fabric to attach to the machine and the machine quilter enough wiggle room in case of shifting. The Binding Committee requests all binding be 2 1/2 inches wide. All quilts will have our label attached to the back. These labels can be attached before or after quilting. Please be conscientious with your workmanship to ensure there are no pins, loose threads, unfinished binding, scents, or anything else that might cause harm to the recipient. Kits and labels are always available at our guild meetings or by contacting the Hug Quilt Committee.
Your participation in this project is greatly appreciated.
