Hosparus Guidelines
HOSPARUS QUILTS
One of our Guild’s Community Projects is “hug quilts” for Hosparus. We felt by providing Quilts to this organization, we would be providing comfort and caring in some small way to those under Hosparus care. Red, white and blue quilts are popular with many of our veterans in Hosparus care. They also like the mini flag quilts (below) to hang on their wall or wheelchair.
Hosparus also accepts Fidget mat for patients with dementia or a tremor https://www.goldencarers.com/how-to-makesensory-blankets-for-dementia-care/5020/ Walker bag: https://iseestarsquilting.com/free-walker-bag-pattern-carry-all/ Catheter Bag: Dignity bag https://soldiersangels.org/assets/documents/teams/other/sewing/catheterbagcover.pdf Hats, fidget mitts (crochet), long bibs (clothing protectors)
Hosparus “hug quilt” hints: The quilts are a minimum of lap size up to twin bed size with a recommended finished size of approximately 36" x 48", but may be any size. Guild quilt labels can be attached before or after quilting but are not necessary. Please be conscientious with your workmanship to ensure there are no pins, loose threads, unfinished binding, scents, or anything else that might cause harm to the recipient. Kits and labels are frequently made available at our guild meetings. Please launder the quilt before donating, and use a detergent that is 100% free of perfumes and dyes, and do not use fabric softener. Thank you.
