President Terryl Allen called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. A total of 32 people were in attendance and 7 quests
Guests: Laura Harbolt, Gerald Hope, Susan Hope, Susan Norsworth, Duanne Puckett, Linda Howell and Peggy Kirian
Gerald (Gerry) Hope spoke to us about the men and women he has meet in the Hospice care. We then presented him with a Quilt of Valor made by Nancy Wiseman. I don’t think they’re was a dry eye in the room 😊
Concerns of Members: Nancy Wiseman was in attendance and her surgery was delayed
Announcements:
Strip Set Callenge from Fons & Porter Season 31 Episode 4. Strips cut no wider than 2.5”or narrower than 1”, sewn into sets no smaller than 11’ wide. Ten sets from fat quarters in themes: Patriotic, Masculine, and Bright and Cheery (this one is filled with 11 people) If you would like to sign up, please let me know. Strip sets due in April at the next meeting. Project completed in October (these strips are to be made into a quilt either for you or the Hugs Quilt. The strips will then get exchanged within the themes.
Lynnette’s daughter is in Africa and is in need of Hooks & Eyes, Zippers, Buttons and snaps. This is for a program her daughter is associated with, so bring any you would like to give away.
There will be no bus trip to Paducah this year, but there is a Charming Shop Hop on April 4-7. If you are interested please let us know, some people will be carpooling.
Jane’s daughter has a new book “Margaret Goes Mordern” she will have a trunk show @ The Cozy Quilter on April 24
Project of the Month: 12 Finished this month
Sit N Sew: May 14, 2028 sign up now! This is an all day “retreat”
Old Business:
Starting in June Suzy will no longer be handling the website. Please let us know if you would like to take this over. It is easy and fun! This has been updated, so go check it out
New Business:
Dues will be collected in July & August. By-Laws change to reflect new dues date. More information about this later.
We gave 28 Hug quilts; 21 Patriot and 7 others: Way to go Guild!
Vice President’s Report (Denise Caravona):
Denise explained the Guild Challenge and explained upcoming programs: April: Diagonal Quilt Backing demo May: Guild Member Yard Sale and Trader’s dice challenge project due. June: Potluck
Secretary’s Report (Lynn Martin):
· Minutes for the January Cover Lovers meeting were distributed via e-mail March 2 ,2018 and were mailed to non-email members with this month’s meeting reminder on same day.
Hug Quilts Report (Lynnette LeGette):
· A total of 28 hug quilts were turned in to Hosparus last month.
· Reminder: The size of hug quilts should average 40” x 60”. Quilt tops turned in to Joyce Hameloth or Linda Sanford for quilting should have a backing 8” wider and 8” longer than the top and pieced together. The binding committee requests that the binding be cut 2 ½” wide and pieced.
