2015 QUILTERS' DAY OUT
Quilters' Day Out was held on Saturday, March 14th, at the Fern Valley Hotel, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. The rainy, cloudy day did not discourage the 700 attendees from enjoying their "day out".
The nationally celebrated, awarded, and recognized jockey Pat Day opened the event with an inspirational speech and the formal ribbon cutting. The Reverend Ken Boehm, Churchill Downs Chaplain, also spoke about his ministry and the part we can all play.
The price of entry was $6.00 plus an item for this year's sponsored charity, The Backside Ministry at Churchill Downs. Backside Ministry serves all those who work at the race track. They offer church service, food pantry, clothing, haircut clinics, and health screenings. This year's QDO attendees generously donated over 600 items and approximately $500.00 for this worthy ministry.

The Featured Quilter at this year's QDO was our very own Guild President, Linda Sanford.
This year's theme was "Art Quilts" in three divisions: Abstract, Memory, and Landscape/Pictorial. Photos and names not available at this time.
Three of our Guild members gave of their time to increase our knowledge:
-- Lynnette LeGette was the QDO MC as well as presenting "Binding Any Quilt Shape" on the Vendor Room Stage
-- Jean Mirizio demonstrated the Quick Curve Ruler on the Vendor Room Stage
-- Susan McCombs presented two classes on "Borders, Borders, Borders"

Next year's challenge will be "Modern Quilts". So you can start planning your entry now. And Congratulations to all the fellow guild members who volunteered their time planning and executing a very successful Quilters' Day Out!
